Clinic Assistant and Management Team

Corinna Palmer

Corinna Palmer

Practice Manager

I started out in chiropractic by being a client and became a Clinic Assistant after seeing an advert at my local chiropractor’s clinic. I worked with him for five years until he moved his practice to another town and had to let me go. I really loved my work and didn’t want to look for a different type of job, I just wanted to stay in chiropractic! Luckily, County Chiropractic heard that I was available and took me on.

I have now been in chiropractic & wellness for ten years and have worked my way up from Clinic Assistant to Senior Assistant, Assistant Manager and now to my present role of Practice Manager. In this role I help the clinic run like the well-oiled machine that it is! I am dedicated to supporting the team by helping them learn and develop. I take care of our clients by being friendly, professional and thoroughly organised.

I get adjusted regularly so I can enjoy my swimming and being outdoors with my animals. I love floating in the clinic’s floatation therapy tank because of my affinity with water.

Clinic Assistant / Marketing Co-ordinator

I was a regular visitor to County Chiropractic for several years before having the opportunity to become a Clinic Assistant, having monthly chiropractic adjustments and massage to help me stay fit and well. When I was looking for a change in career it was serendipitous that an opening came up in the clinic.

Being a Clinic Assistant is extremely rewarding, supporting our fantastic team of practitioners as they help so many people return to and stay in good health, as well as having the opportunity to get to know our guests.

My professional background is in marketing and events, so I’m really fortunate to be able to enjoy my role and combine it with helping with County Chiropractic’s marketing, including social media. We regularly attend community events and visit local businesses, with our practitioners offering free spinal health checks and muscle health checks. Organising our attendance at these events is part of my role, so if you feel your business, team or event could benefit from this service, please get in touch!

I continue to have regular adjustments and massage and have completely fallen in love with floatation therapy. This regular care helps me to maintain my own wellbeing, and more importantly keeps me in touch with how all our practitioners work so I can help advise clients on which practitioners’ methods might best suit their needs.

MSc Hons Chiropractic

I was first introduced to Chiropractic in January 2011; I was working on a cruise liner as a Personal Trainer and injured my right ankle whilst surfing in Hawaii.  I attended a stretch class where a Chiropractor asked if she could assess me. To my absolute amazement the single adjustment she performed on my ankle removed my pain and I was able to walk freely without crutches. From this point onwards I had a clear path that I wanted to follow, and so, over the following 5 years, I obtained an Access to Higher Education Diploma which allowed me to start the Masters’ Degree in Chiropractic.  In the summer of 2016, I qualified as a Doctor of Chiropractic.

I now share my knowledge and personal experiences about Chiropractic and Personal Training with my clients here at County Chiropractic. Each person brings a new challenge that I grasp with both hands.  I aim to retrain and re-educate my clients to best prevent any future problems arising.

Outside of my passion for Chiropractic I am a keen swimmer, having been awarded a swimming scholarship at Kelly College for my secondary school education. I competed at the British National swimming championships over 6 years and won 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals. In 2006 I swam for the South of England at the UK school games held in Glasgow, and won 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medal.  I also enjoy coastal walks around North Devon and down time with my partner, friends and family.

MSc Hons Chiropractic

I lead a very active lifestyle with surfing and crossfit as my main activities.  I was lucky enough to grow up in Devon where the surfing is incredible! Being passionate about healthy living lead me to Chiropractic as it allows others to enjoy life in a similar way.

Members of my family visited Chiropractors when I was younger as they would injure themselves horse riding, I have seen first hand how Chiropractic can benefit men, women and children and this is another reason why I am so passionate about helping people.

As a McTimoney Chiropractor I am able to get effective results through the speed and specificity of the adjustments.  I pride myself on being a good listener and having a calm nature. I strongly believe that we express our lives through our nervous system and therefore spinal health is very important for us to fully experience life.

Developing my skills and knowledge as a Massage Therapist at County Chiropractic has created many leadership opportunities for me, including becoming a Director.  Myself and my partner, Alan, took over the business in September 2017 and have been working hard to create an exceptional health and wellness centre in Exeter.  Our aim is to provide various therapies under one roof yet come together as a team to deliver them.

When I’m not massaging or working ‘behind the scenes’ I enjoy walking our dog, attending contemporary dance classes and doing yoga.  All of these activities keep my brain and body healthy and happy, and I couldn’t ask for more!

My natural inclination towards helping alleviate pain led me to undertake training in therapeutic and remedial massage.  I am passionate about taking an empathetic and holistic approach to massage treatment and strive to tailor treatments to individual’s requirements, incorporating therapeutic, deep tissue and Thai mobilisation techniques, as well as advice to enhance health and wellbeing, during and between treatments.

Prior to embarking on my career as a massage therapist, my professional background is varied. I have experience working in diverse clinical settings as a qualified Occupational Therapist, as well as working as a snowboard instructor in Argentina, Japan and Spain. My diverse professional experience has equipped me with insight into how ill health and injuries can impact daily life and I am passionate about supporting people to feel and stay well through massage.

When I’m not working I enjoy staying active – running around after my toddler, cycling, walking, and snowboarding whenever the opportunity arises! I’m a bit of a language geek and speak fluent Spanish as well as several other languages not quite so fluently – although I always welcome the opportunity to practice!

Alan Upfold

Director

In my former life as a business manager for large hospitality companies I was employed to look after the finance, customers and team members. Having enjoyed much success over the past 8 years as a manager I made the move in September 2017 to transfer those skills to County Chiropractic as a Director, alongside my partner, Laura.

The majority of my time is spent making sure the engine of County Chiropractic runs smoothly.  I believe that looking after myself will enable me to better look after others that I am responsible for be it friends and family or the amazing team of professionals working at County Chiropractic.

My passions in life are all things to do with the stock market, and finance in general. I read quite a lot of books on anything from self-help to Dark Fantasy. I try to stay fit and healthy by walking as much as possible and eating home-cooked food.
