Recovering From a Sports Injury? We’re Here to Help
Sports rehabilitation and massage therapy are two powerful tools for anybody looking to improve their sports performance, recover from common injuries or major surgeries and build strength to reduce injury. Whether you’re a professional athlete, weekend warrior, or simply looking to be out of pain, these treatments can provide a wide range of benefits to help you achieve your goals.
Whether you’re dealing with a sprained ankle, pulled muscle or a more serious injury, these treatments can help to reduce inflammation, increase blood flow, and promote the growth of new tissue, all of which can help to speed up the healing process and get you back to living everyday life as quickly as possible.
Alleviate Pain & Prevent Injuries with Rehabilitation
Optimising your performance or recovering from an injury isn’t a one-step process. We’ll create a tailored rehabilitation plan, alongside applying a range of sports massage and rehabilitation techniques, to suit your goals, from restoring function to building strength. We’ll also work with you to prevent sports injuries from reoccurring, which is one of the most important reasons to focus on your recovery.
Sports rehabilitation can include many exercises and techniques, including stretches, strengthening exercises, manual therapy, and preventative care advice. For your first appointment you will need to book a Sports Rehabilitation Consultation. In this appointment the therapist will take a full history, perform assessments related to your injuries or pain, give manual therapy using various sports massage and rehabilitation techniques as well as discuss a tailored care plan which will include rehabilitation techniques, exercises and stretches. After the initial consultation, rehabilitation sessions can be booked as a stand-alone treatment or as part of a massage care plan. The aim of this care plan will be to help you go about your day-to-day life and activities without experiencing sports-related strain or injury.
Common Injuries Benefited by Sports Rehabilitation
Ligament Tears (ACL, MCL, LCL)
Stability is restored and re-injury is prevented through intensive post-surgical or conservative rehabilitation, particularly for serious knee injuries such as ACL tears.
Sprains and Strains
As the most frequently occurring sports injuries, ankle sprains and muscle strains (such as those affecting the hamstrings or groin) are improved through progressive strengthening and balance training.
Overuse Injuries
Conditions including tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), runner’s knee, and shin splints are managed through the correction of biomechanical imbalances.
Shoulder Issues
The range of motion and strength required for overhead sports are regained via targeted exercises following rotator cuff tears or shoulder dislocations.
Tendon Injuries
Explosive movements are safely re-introduced through careful, staged rehabilitation for Achilles tendonitis or complete ruptures.
Fractures and Dislocations
Once a bone has been healed or a joint repositioned, muscle mass and joint mobility lost during immobilisation are restored through essential rehabilitation.
